Getting started

What exactly is the Emergency Card?

It's a wallet-sized, 3-page PDF that captures the critical information your family would need in an emergency — primary emergency contacts, medical info, insurance policy numbers, healthcare directives, your kids' schools and pediatricians, and a personal message. You can print the wallet card, fold it, and carry it. You can also email the full PDF to a trusted family member.

How long does it take?

About 5 minutes for the free Emergency Card. If you're going deeper with Pro, expect about 20 minutes for the full Emergency Plan, which covers financial details, digital accounts, household operations, and safety check-ins.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes — a free account with email and password. This lets us save your progress, email you your PDF, and let you come back to update it as your life changes. We never share your account or plan with third parties.

Security & privacy

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard 256-bit AES encryption. We use a zero-knowledge architecture for sensitive fields: we never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never share it with third parties outside of the providers strictly required to operate the service (listed in our Privacy Policy).

Who can see my plan?

By default, only you. If you're on Pro and explicitly share access with a family member, that person gets read-only access to the sections you choose to share — nothing more. You can revoke access at any time, and shared links can be time-limited.

What happens if I forget my password?

Use the password reset link on the login page. We'll email you a secure recovery link. We can't see or recover your password — that's by design — but the reset flow is fast and secure.

Where is my data stored?

On encrypted servers in the United States, hosted by Supabase (our database provider) and Vercel (our web host). We don't transmit your data outside the US.

Using your plan

Can I share with my spouse or family?

Yes. On the free tier, you can email or print your Emergency Card PDF and share it with anyone. On Pro, you can send a view-only shareable link to specific family members, giving them access to the sections you choose. Shared links expire after 30 days by default and are revocable.

What happens to my plan if something happens to me?

Pro includes a safety check-in system — sometimes called a 'dead man's switch.' You set a check-in schedule (weekly or monthly). If you miss a check-in past your grace window, we contact your designated beneficiaries. When enough of them confirm something has happened, the sections you've designated as shareable become accessible to them automatically.

How is this different from a will?

Legacy Ready is an organizational tool, not a legal document. We help you capture and share the practical information your family would need — phone numbers, account locations, medical info, emergency contacts. For legal documents (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives), you should work with a licensed attorney in your state. Think of Legacy Ready as the map that points to where your legal documents live, plus all the non-legal practical information your family needs.

Can I update my plan as things change?

Yes, and you should. We recommend reviewing your plan at least once a year, and whenever major life changes occur — a new job, a move, a birth, a death, a new insurance policy. Editing is unlimited on Pro. On the free tier, you can regenerate your Emergency Card during your 30-day active window.

Billing

How does the free tier work?

Your Emergency Card is free forever to create. Your plan stays active in your dashboard for 30 days — during that time you can regenerate and email the card as many times as you want. After 30 days, your plan is archived. Come back any time and pick up where you left off.

Can I cancel Pro anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your account settings. You keep access through the end of your billing period. Your data is retained for 90 days after cancellation before permanent deletion, in case you change your mind.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes — 30 days on Pro. If you're not satisfied, email support@legacyready.co for a full refund.
